Geek Gear: Doctor Who ‘Don’t Blink’ T-Shirt Posted: 04 May 2011 09:03 PM PDT The $10 t-shirt deal of the day over at Teefury today is the Doctor Who-inspired "Don't Blink," by artist Matt Dearden. The sale at Teefury began at midnight EST (Thursday, May 5, 2011) and will continue for 24 hours from then, and once it's over, it won't be sold on the site anymore. The design is based on the Doctor Who Season 3 episode titled Blink, which featured the "weeping angels." The artwork shows the TARDIS surrounded by weeping angels with the words, "The Angels Have The Phone Box" in a banner draped across the bottom [...] |
In Preparation For ‘Thor’: Norse Mythology A-Z (Or At Least Y Anyway) Posted: 04 May 2011 05:30 PM PDT Are you excited for the release of Marvel Studios' Thor on Friday, but you don't know your Baldr from your Bilfrost? Well, the good folks at Geeks of Doom have got you covered! Marvel Comics delved deep into traditional Norse mythology to create the backdrop for Thor, pulling gods, monsters, giants, and exotic locations to populate their modern take on the old legend. Few people realize this, but Norse Mythology is the manliest thing to ever exist; even manlier then an Ultimate Klingon Fighting League. We're talking Dungeons & Dragons on steroids. We're talking honey mead-swilling, giant axe-swinging, buxom maiden-screwing, giant troll-wrestling hurricane of 100 percent, grade-A he-beef. Why do you think Power Metal loves it so much? In honor of Thor, Geeks of Doom jumps two skullcrushing boots first into the world of Viking gods. So grab a stein of mead, a side of boar, and enjoy Geeks of Doom's NORSE MYTHOLOGY A-Z (Or At Least Y Anyway) [...] |
Ouch! BioWare Delays ‘Mass Effect 3′ Release Until Early 2012 Posted: 04 May 2011 04:00 PM PDT Some very painful news for fans of the Mass Effect franchise who were impatiently waiting the arrival of the biggest and final installment in the series, Mass Effect 3, which was set to hit store shelves at some point this November. But with two other juggernauts in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception planned for November, it was too chaotic a month to even bother with. Paired with some other reasons, BioWare has now announced that they'll be holding on to their highly anticipated title just a little longer, and that the game with now be released in early 2012. The release date for the game had been kind of shaky, first having it landing in "late 2011/early 2012." The two dates more recently were December 31 and the above-mentioned November, and the game had been dubbed the "most anticipated title of 2011" by multiple outlets, basically confirming that it would be shipped out this year. Unfortunately that just wasn't going to happen, whether the developers thought it would initially or not. [...] |
Watch Now: ‘The Meowmorphosis’ Book Trailer Posted: 04 May 2011 01:14 PM PDT Back at Christmastime, I mentioned there was a book I was looking forward to checking out -- the new offering from Quirk Classics, The Meowmorphosis, which is a take on Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis. As with previous Quirk Classics titles like Night Of The Living Trekkies, the publisher has released an amusing trailer for the book, which was co-written by Cook Coleridge. Watch the trailer, directed by Justin Lutsky, here [...] |

The GoD List: Comics for May 4, 2011 Posted: 04 May 2011 08:33 AM PDT Each week, MK2Fac3 and Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn't? So, let's take a look into the depths of their pull list, grab some issues and we'll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of May 4, 2011. Single issues and trades, they're all here. MK2Fac3 [Picks] ISSUES Blue Estate #2 (Image Comics - $2.99): When the first of this issue of this came out of nowhere to completely blow me away, I knew that I would be anticipating all following issues. The series centers around a bit of fumbling private detective that gets himself a bit over his head when he picks up a case concerning the Russian mafia. Blue Estate is extremely eccentric with a lot of mystery, but also with a perfect amount of humor to keep the series as one of the most unique books that I've ever read. We discussed the first issue on the podcast, but the creative force behind this comic is strong, and this Blue Estate promises to be a breakout series. But don't take my word for it, here's a description of the book given to us straight from creator, Andrew Osborne! [...] |
