Wait, What? ‘American Pie’ Star Jason Biggs Is The Voice Of Leonardo In New CG ‘Ninja Turtles’ Posted: 31 Mar 2011 07:17 PM PDT Back when Nickelodeon purchased the rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise back in 2009 for $60 million, we knew that a new live-action movie and a CG-animated TV show based on the turtles was on the way. We haven't seen much from the movie yet, but not too long ago some footage and the first image from the upcoming animated series arrived online (you can see it at right). The reactions to that seemed to be mixed, many unsure how they felt about the new look. And uncertainty in the show grows a little bit more with the announcement that American Pie star Jason Biggs will be voicing Leonardo. I don't know about you, but I have a lot of trouble imagining Leo voiced by Mr. Biggs. Maybe it'll work out in the end, but surely a strange casting just going off initial impression of the news. ‘Breaking Bad’ Star Bryan Cranston Joins Colin Farrell In ‘Total Recall’ Remake Posted: 31 Mar 2011 05:49 PM PDT An actor has been chosen to play one of the villains in the upcoming remake of Total Recall, and that actor looks like it will be Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, who's currently in negotiations for the role. The movie is a remake of the 1990 movie of the same name, which is based on the Philip K. Dick story We Can Remember It for You Wholesale. It follows a man named Douglas Quaid who takes a vacation of the mind to the planet Mars, but when he suspects his memories have been corrupted in hopes of hiding his own reality he ventures to the planet for real, causing him to uncover some very big secrets and leading him to question what is real and what is all in his mind. Cranston will play Vilos Cohaagen, who was played in the original film by Ronny Cox. He joins Colin Farrell, who has already been cast in the lead role of Douglas Quaid that was originally played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. [...]

Leonard Nimoy Joins ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ Posted: 31 Mar 2011 12:30 PM PDT Ok, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, you got me now. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Star Trek alum Leonard Nimoy will be providing the voice for Sentinel Prime in the upcoming third Transformers film. The character Sentinel Prime is the Autobot Optimus Prime's predecessor. You can see the character around the 2-minute mark in the teaser trailer for the film; he's the wrecked body that is found on the Moon by the Apollo 11 astronauts in 1969. Sentinel Prime will be seen later in the movie after he's brought to Earth and will take the form of a red fire engine truck [...]

Title Of Neil Gaiman’s ‘Doctor Who’ Episode Revealed Posted: 31 Mar 2011 09:57 AM PDT Last year, we reported that author Neil Gaiman would be writing an episode of Doctor Who for its sixth season. Few details about the episode have been revealed since then, but now we at least know the title. Gaiman's story is called The Doctor's Wife and it will be the fourth episode in Series 6 (Season 6 for those of us in the U.S.). Man Accused of Impersonating Cop for Naked Massage to Be Arraigned

MISSION VIEJO - A former Illinois cop accused of impersonating a police officer so as to perform a bogus inspection and ask for money and a massage at Lake Forest's Golden Spa parlor will be arraigned Friday, according to the District Attorney's office. Mission Viejo resident Edward Justin La Porte, 47, is accused of entering the parlor around noon Jan 31 and telling the manager there that he was a police officer investigating a complaint filed against the business, said Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino. La Porte opened up his jacket to show the manager a dark-colored pistol in his shoulder holster and a police badge in his waistband, Amormino said. The manager, believing La Porte to be a cop, allowed him to walk around the business, writing on a notepad on a metal clipboard, Amormino said. In the parlor's massage room, La Porte allegedly told the manager that he needed a massage because the gun holster hurt his back and shoulder. "When the manager told him she didn't do massages, he became very insistent," Amormino said. The manager summoned a masseuse who worked at the business. Amormino said that when the masseuse walked into the massage room, La Porte was on the table, naked. "After the massage on his shoulder and back was done, he rolled over and requested her to massage the front of him," Amormino said. "Obviously, she thought it was some type of sexual misconduct like masturbation or something. She said they don't do this kind of stuff and he should leave the building." La Porte then got dressed and told the manager that she owed him $200 for the inspection, Amormino said. When the manager said she didn't have the money on hand, La Porte said he would come back later to get it, Amormino said. The manager, suspicious of La Porte, then called the city of Lake Forest's building and licensing department to find out whether the business had actually been the subject of an inspection, Amormino said. The city sent an employee out to the parlor, and as the employee was pulling up in his car, La Porte was leaving, Amormino said. The city official asked La Porte what he had been doing, but La Porte became belligerent and said, "I don't have to tell you anything; I'm from the state,' " Amormino said. The masseuse followed La Porte's Toyota Camry to a Mission Viejo neighborhood and recorded a partial license plate number and reported it to police, Amormino said. Deputies identified La Porte and executed a search warrant at his home, where they confiscated a gun holster, a badge, some handcuffs and a metal clipboard with notepad, Amormino said...

This thing reads like a Tarrentino screenplay. He's a cop. Then he's not a cop. Then he pretends to be a cop again. Then he shakes down a massage parlour and tries to get a little sex and a little money. But the authorities get tipped off and he's on the run. Wow. Let's have Travolta play the cop and Uma Thurman be the massage chick. Action!

American female soldiers pushed to wear hijab in Afghanistan by PC obsesses military command

Here’s another example of our PC infected military. I reported on this story last month without much notice. Maybe now since the Daily Caller is bringing it up again, it should get the attention it deserves.

This thinking that it’s appropriate for our women in the military to put themselves at greater physical risk by not wearing protective helmets in a war zone is insane.

I don’t give a rip about cultural sensitivity!

If our military continues to bow down to the altar of political correctness, in time, they’ll won’t be able to be an effective fighting force for all their “do and don’t’ PC rules they restrain themselves with.

Daily Caller reports in an effort to get closer to the local population, American female soldiers stationed in Afghanistan are being encouraged to wear a Muslim headscarf when interacting with civilians. But some question whether the practice constitutes cultural sensitivity or a form of appeasement that is degrading to U.S. soldiers.

Major Kyndra Rotunda, executive director of the Military Law and Policy Institute and AMVETS Legal Clinic, told The Daily Caller that while the women are not being ordered to wear the head scarf, encouragement is tantamount to a demand.

“They say they are encouraging women to wear the headscarf when they are out and about and on patrol. But the problem is — and I think anyone who has been in the military understands that being encouraged to do something is about the same thing as being ordered — it really puts them in an uncomfortable position when their commander says, ‘We really want you to do this, technically you don’t have to, but we really want you to do this,’” she said.

Lt. Col. Michael Lawhorn, a U.S. Central Command spokesman, stressed to TheDC that while commanders are encouraging American women to wear headscarves while engaging with civilians, they are not having them wear the headscarf in lieu of their kevlar helmets.

“Nobody is saying, ‘Okay as we head out onto this dangerous street, you wear a hijab instead of your kevlar helmet,’” Lawhorn said. “As women are on some of these engagement teams and they are going to go into places where are going to predominantly be dealing with other women, like giving them medical information or finding out their concerns are in the local community. Local commanders are encouraging them — not demanding, but encouraging — if they feel more comfortable — ‘Feel free to wear a headscarf.’”

The Last Picture Show, the forgotten classic

I remember they used to show this 1971 film on ABC and me and all my friends couldn’t wait to see it because it was pretty racy. That was before I became a serious film aficionado and realized how well made the movie was.

It’s directed by Peter Bogdanovich and stars Timothy Bottoms and Jeff Bridges.

This is my favorite scene that features Ben Johnson who made many films with my all time fav actor, John Wayne.
