Secret Six #32 (DC Comics - $2.99) - Secret Six is easily one of my favorite ongoing series, so don't be surprised when you see this book on my list every month. Not enough people read this book, and that's a crime. It's one of the most consistently awesome comics to come out on a regular basis, and this current storyline is no exception. In this second issue of the current story arc, writer Gail Simone takes the Secret Six into Hell to solve one of the most exciting story lines that was set up at the very beginning of the series. This series continues to be a "can't miss," so don't miss it! [...]

Plot Summary

This novel revolves around the life of Chaz, who is a "Babysitter," which means that his job is to help people who have recently died adjust to their lives, which are supposed to be better, but this whole big brother-esque "Fresh Start" program isn't as good as it seems to be, and people, like cats, only get nine lives, and it doesn't take too long for those to dry up. But the keys to preventing the negative side effects of the re-adjustment and the nine lives is with a pretty blonde newly risen woman, Angelique, who also remembers quite a bit from her past life. The two eventually fall for each other, and soon he finds himself doing anything he can to protect her from the people who mean her harm [...]

Miracle Day

As promotion and publicity for Doctor Who Series 6 marches forward around the world, BBC Worldwide and Starz USA are kicking off their promotion for Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood. While the series isn't scheduled until July, the publicity is starting early, with new poster art and a teaser video being released over the last couple of weeks.

Now, BBC and Starz have released two new images to promote Torchwood: Miracle Day, which you can see at the bottom of this post.

First up is a photo of the new Torchwood team, which looks like a still from filming. The image includes show regulars John Barrowman and Eve Myles, along with new allies Esther Drummond and Mekhi Phifer.

The second image is a new promo poster design from BBC Worldwide featuring everyone's favorite hero-who-cannot-die, Captain Jack Harkness. This design comes with the new slogan, "Death is not an option", indicating that now Planet Earth is facing the same immortal dilemma as Captain Jack: they cannot die! [...]

Two New ‘Wyatt Earp’ Westerns On The Way Again … Including One With Val Kilmer

Posted: 05 Apr 2011 03:55 PM PDT

We all know the drill -- movie studios love to make movies similar to what other studios are making in order to compete and ultimately try and prevail. Whether it's a historical figure or disastrous event at its core, or if it's a new take on the many beloved fairy tales out there as we've been seeing lately, it happen on a pretty consistent basis.

Just such a pair of dueling movies came around in the early '90s when Buena Vista Pictures and Warner Brothers delivered their own versions of the story of legendary law man Wyatt Earp. Buena Vista's Tombstone is far and away the better of the two, but now it looks like we'll get to see this very same cinematic battle once again.

It's being reported that two new Wyatt Earp projects are in the works, one an indie flick that's already in production and the other once again coming from Warners. [...]

TARDISblend 20: Interview with ‘Doctor Who’ Director Toby Haynes

Posted: 05 Apr 2011 09:30 AM PDT

Doctor Who

Following Wondercon 2011, we are launching not one, but TWO episodes of TARDISblend this week! The promotions and publicity for Doctor Who Series 6 is moving full speed ahead, with many revelations, news items, rumors, spoilers, and other stuff abound. Co-host Tom Cheredar was on assignment for Geeks of Doom at WonderCon this year and got to catch up with both Toby Haynes and Neil Gaiman.

For episode 20 of the TARDISblend, we focus on the interview with Toby Haynes and on the two-part launching episode for Series 6 of Doctor Who: The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon. Taking a look at the confirmed information, the spoilers, and the rumors, Tom and Greg speculate what the two opening shows may hold for the Doctor and his companions -- in a season which (by some indications) may redefine how you view the show.

In addition to some of the news and rumors, we pay tribute to two Doctor Who legends who have since passed away: Nicholas Courtney aka The Brigadier, and Michael Gough aka The Celestial Toymaker. We reflect on their contributions to the show and to entertainment in general, and mourn these big losses [...]
