Two Charged In UI Dorm Skirmish

IOWA CITY,IA - Two University of Iowa students have been charged with assault in a Feb. 27 incident in Slater Residence Hall. Anthony August Ruelli, 19, of 420A Mayflower Residence Hall, was charged over the weekend with assault causing bodily injury. He's accused of entering Jacob Squillaci's room on Slater's third floor and verbally abusing him and others. Ruelli then punched Squillaci, giving him a black eye, ripped off Squillaci's boxers and grabbed his testicles, police reported. Squillaci, 19, of 304 Slater Hall, was charged last week with assault causing injury for punching Ruelli, police reported. Assault causing bodily injury is a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail. The UI's online directory says Ruelli is from Deerfield, Ill., and Squillaci is from Lake Villa, Ill.
