Should We Be Worried About The Celtics?
One of the reasons the Celtics lost to the Pacers last night was that they missed a shitload of free throws. As a public service, I'm posting the video of this Asian kid knockin' 'em down with both hands. I know Doc and Danny are huge fans of the Speakeasy, so find this guy immediately, get him to work with the team and then go win Banner 18. Bang. Done. Pay attention! (And you're welcome.)

Watch This NBA Referee Drop Like A Soccer Player
Better move than Tony Allen ever did with the Celtics, but I think he travelled at the end, right? Wonder why the ref didn't see that...

Weekend Re-Cap Part 2 - Blake Griffin Wins The NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest
The last few years this contest has been a little stale. Blake Griffin and JaVale McGee certainly woke things up this time around. As a matter of fact, I thought this dunk by McGee was the best of the night:

Wait, what? Okay, so the kid showed he had a little game, but Scottie went for 18! Travesty!

Is There Any Doubt That Blake Griffin Will Win The NBA Slam-Dunk Contest?
This dude is just so sick he's beyond ill. One step and his elbow is above the rim. No question he can dunk from the free-throw line. No question he can dunk over anyone in the league. No question he can dunk his donuts in your coffee. The upset of the year will be if he doesn't dominate this weekend. What the cat needs is a nickname. The Poster? Red-Dunkulous? Juke Skywalker? Send 'em to me at bahtendah@gmail.com. Game over. As Larry Bird once said, "Which one of you guys is gonna come in second?" Bang. Pay attention!

Good Morning, Boston - Here Are Your Celtics 2011 NBA All-Stars
Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo. What does it mean? Not much right now, but in the long run I think it means that nothing less than an NBA Championship is acceptable this year. Anything less than "Banner 18" will be a failure. The Celts have 17 titles and the Lakers have 16. The sole mission of this club has to be to deny another championship to the Lakers. Allowing LA to have co-bragging rights to the "Best All-time NBA Franchise" has to be avoided at all cost. There's a lot at stake here, boys. Buck up and get the job done. Bang. Pay attention!
And, oh, by the way, in late-breaking news, this dude will NOT be making the All-Star team this year:

How Scary Is This?
After the game, Doc Rivers seemed optimistic that it was a muscle injury. Doesn't look like a season-ender, but the "Drive for 18" could be in serious jeopardy. We'll have to wait and see....

Bahtendah Wisdom - Pay Attention!
First of all, let me set the stage. I've been a Celtics fan since birth. Born here. Raised here. I'm also a die-hard NBA fan. Love the game. Love the athleticism.
I'm also not Tommy Heinsohn. I love Tommy, but let's face it, when it comes to NBA referees, he's so far over the top he's in another galaxy. That's okay, I get it. The dude bleeds green and he's broadcasting on local TV.
Having said that, I do think that NBA officiating in general is sub-par, but for the most part I don't see it affecting the outcome of games. Oh sure, every once in awhile you watch a game in amazement at the calls and non-calls, but generally, the team that deserves to win gets the win.
Here's my beef: I've never, ever seen a superstar in the NBA get less respect from the officials than The Truth. And make no mistake about it, Paul Pierce is a certified NBA superstar. High-profile rookies get more calls than he does. Grizzled vets get more calls than he does. And the big names? It's not even close. Pierce gets called on defense for "moving screens," reach-ins on the dribble and attempted blocks more than any "superstar" in the league.
And on offense? Pierce takes an ongoing beating when he drives to the hole but rarely gets the call or the "and-one." When #34 started his career with the Celts, he was a relentless driver of the basketball. Drive the lane and throw it down! His outside shot and perimeter game were not yet what they are today so he routinely took most defenders off the dribble. He did so willingly and easily - he just didn't get the whistle. Only after years of not getting calls that he felt he deserved did his game slowly morph into more of the outside, jump-shooting style that it's become today. And that's the shame of it. In his heart, I think Pierce is a slasher. A guy who consistently poses the threat of the outside shot, but a guy who would rather take you to the hole and stick the dagger in your heart mano a mano.
So the question becomes, why the lack of respect? My belief is that it's simple, but yet subtle. Ever seen Pierce smile on the court? Ever see him look like he's having fun? Pretty seldom. His general demeanor seems to be a little gangsta, to be frank. I honestly believe this hurts him and has for years. Remember, when Pierce came into the league, we heard all the stories about how he'd work on his jumpshot, calling out all the names of the players drafted before him. This was a guy who truly (pun intended) believed he was dissed in a major way. On the plus side, it's given him the motivation to become great. On the flip side, it's made him play like a sourpuss with a chip on his shoulder the size of Gibraltar. Paul Pierce as the Angry Young Man.
So the conundrum remains. Does what makes you great also hurt you to some degree? I believe that it does - big time. Pay attention!

LeBron James On Twitter - Shut. The. Fuck. Up.
So these are LeBron James' tweets after watching SportCenter (SC). Dick. I've had just about enough of this craggy-faced, no-ring, non-clutch, choke-ass, can't-shoot, ego-driven, prima donna, foot-in-mouth, no-clue pussy as I can take. So King Fucking James is pissed about Trent Dilfer dissin' Peyton Manning cuz he played like shit? Guess what asswipe, YOU play like shit! Big LeBron game = big Lebron fail. As a matter of fact, you and ol' Peyton have more in common than you think. Manning never won the big game at Tennessee (and only 1 as a pro) and you haven't won the big game yet, you chicken-shit wannabe. Now here's where Peyton has you beat. He at least overcame his chokeness and won a Super Bowl. What about you? When push comes to shove you're more nervous than a long-tailed pussycat in a room full of rocking chairs. I got some serious advice for you: Stop watchin' ESPN, tell your Mom to stay the fuck away from Delonte West, work on your outside shot and start earning a little of the fucking devotion you think you so richly deserve. Right now, you're the worldwide poster boy for potential and nothing more. Someone once said that potential is like a great ocean unsailed. You haven't even left the beach and you sure as hell ain't in the boat. Shut. The. Fuck. Up.
P.S. BTW, Trent Dilfer is an outstanding NFL analyst.
