| X-Men Go Anime In Upcoming TV Series Posted: 26 Feb 2011 06:07 PM PST  Madhouse is doing the X-Men up all anime style for a new series debuting in Japan on April 1, 2011 and then coming stateside on G4 later this year. Madhouse announced a bevy of Marvel projects back in 2009 so it makes sense that the characters look and feel most similar in the anime to the Astonishing X-Men comics. Plus, writer Warren Ellis, who did a run on Astonishing X-Men, has been involved with the project from the beginning. There are already Iron Man and Wolverine anime series out in the wild from Madhouse so X-Men seems like the next logical step. Not much is known about the storyline at this point, but Animax has posted a teaser trailer for the series and we have it below for your viewing pleasure [...]      |

| ‘Powers’ Gets The Green Light At FX Posted: 26 Feb 2011 02:06 PM PST  FX is one of those networks that are easy to forget about, but pay attention they are doing some interesting stuff over there. Currently the network has a couple of fantastic shows, Justified and Sons of Anarchy, and one odd but entertaining animated series, Archer. Now it seems that they are getting into the superhero game and they may actually be getting some talented folks behind the camera. Sure that sounds snarky but when you look at shows like The Cape and you read everything that's happening with the upcoming Wonder Woman series, it's easy to get a little jaded when it comes to "superhero" shows or adaptations of comics to TV. FX has greenlit a pilot for an adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis' amazing comic book series called Powers. | Cartoon Networks Anime-Style ‘Thundercats’ Gets A First Trailer Posted: 26 Feb 2011 12:42 PM PST  The first trailer for the Cartoon Network's Thundercats has shown up online. The animated series is a reboot of the classic '80s kids show with a makeover giving it more of a Japanese anime look. Before this all we had to go on was an image that had been released, making many fans of the original a little skeptical of these new-look Thundercats. The hopes here is to win over a new fan base for the property, as well as keep all of the old fans who loved the show when they were kids. This seems like it will be a challenge for the old school fan, however, as it's tough for nostalgia's sake to warm up to the new look (for me, anyway). | The Weinstein Company Cuts Oscar Nominee ‘The King’s Speech’ To Get PG-13 Rating Posted: 26 Feb 2011 11:10 AM PST  Over the past couple of weeks, whispers have been making the rounds that The Weinstein Company was pondering the possibility of cutting their critically acclaimed and Academy Award-nominated film, The King's Speech, so that the MPAA would drop the rating from R to PG-13. This has had fans up in arms because the only reason the movie is R-rated (which is silly to begin with) is due to a string of f-bombs by star Colin Firth, used only as a tool for trying to cure his speech impediment...which also happens to be the basis for the entire film. The scene is far too important to the film to remove, so it was said that they might even resort to -- get this -- bleeping a couple out in order to get their rating and expand their movie to younger audiences. As of yesterday, this wholly confusing situation became a reality when it was announced that the Weinsteins had indeed made their changes and "muted" out the necessary words, received their PG-13, and that that version would be hitting theaters soon.
